BroadbandBenchmark.com is a free service that enables internet users to test the quality of their internet connection to selected major destinations. Our service rates ISPs based on the average round trip delay (RTD) we record based on all the tests our users run. The best ISP listed is the ISP in each visitor's country with the lowest RTD to each site.

Some ISPs may de-prioritise ICMP (the protocol used in traceroutes) which may impact the results. Where we are unable to run a traceroute to a particular site we run the test to the last available address in the traceroute.

Use of the site is subject to visitors understanding the limitations described above, and on the understanding that we the results of the tests they run will be stored by us and used in our assessment of the connection quality we list on the site.

We do not record any information that could enable individuals to be identified. Although we display users' IP addresses in the traceroutes shown on the screen, we do not record the full details of the first three hops, so it would be impossible to identify or contact an individual based on the information we record.
